Special events and trips

The rosemaling society made a bus trip to attend the Nordic Fest in Decorah Iowa July 29-30, 2005. We left Friday morning from Duluth and got back again late Saturday night. On the way down we stopped at a new Museum of Russian Art in Minneapolis, where we saw a wonderful exhibit of 20th century Russian art, some of which was on loan from The State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. I believe that exhibit has gone to another city, now and has been replaced by a new exhibit. Here is a picture of the outside of the museum. Visit the link above for more information.

Next we stopped at Blondell's antique shop in Rochester, MN that has Scandinavian antiques. Here are some pictures I took in the shop.

Below are a few pictures I took at the Juried Craft Show held in conjunction with the Nordic Fest in Decorah. The show is held in the Education Wing of the Vesterheim Museum

I am always overwhelmed at the beautiful rosemaling, weaving, carving, etc. done by these craftsmen and women!

This was my second trip to the Nordic Fest in Decorah. Below are photos I took in 2002 on my previous trip again with the Twin Ports Rosemaling Society.

Some of the rosemaled items entered for judging at Vesterheim. Visitors to the show examining the entries, woven items on wall.
Lois Mueller demonstrating at the Nordic fest. More rosemaled and woven items in the show.
